Hassett Ducatez Architects work across an array of spatial and built areas.

Our Position

Architecture is above all, a culture. We see architectural practice as an important public role in the world and are invigorated by it daily. Now, with a very experienced team, we strive to grow new areas of architectural research and reach. We believe in the importance of architectural thinking for the Ireland region, for the western seaboard, for rural Ireland and for new urbanism. We are interested in expanding the extents of architectural theory and precedent. We want to engage colleagues to reach their full potential and capacity in the subject areas where they are excellent. We have extensive international networks and esteem.

We strive to develop the culture, and hope to inspire clients, communities, students and colleagues. This perspective is expanded by exhibition, through work with marginal communities and through Grainne’s Professorship at the University of Limerick having been central in the creation of its School of Architecture (SAUL), leading as Head 2018-2023. International experience as Visiting Professor at Sheffield University, Trustee of the Charity ASF UK (Architecture Sans Frontieres) or External Examiner roles at QUB, Lille, Brighton (and Irish) Schools of Architecture also shape the practice discourse. Architecture is a live project.

Over 28 years in architectural practice and much change in the European and Irish construction industry brings significant expertise in our staff, design teams, clients and contractor management.  This ranges across strategic planning, policy, media, personnel, contracts, legislation, risk, insurances, accounting, operating licences and estimating quantities, environment, culture, and construction. We are experienced in managing construction contracts up to €8 million.

Collectively we now face a carbon and biodiversity challenge.

We frequently advise government departments on public policy at national and at local level and maintain research activity on economic/socio-political spatial factors in research in practice, latterly migration.

Hassett Ducatez Architects has been an award winning architects practice over twenty eight years.

Recognition for our work in prestigious peer reviewed peer reviewed environments includes exhibitions at the Royal Festival Hall Southbank, the Barbican, the Design Museum (London 2016/17/18),Venice Biennale 2018 & 2008 ,New Trends of Architecture Europe Asia Oceania 2005 ( toured Europe, Asia and Australia), a nomination for Design of the Year (UK 2017),three nominations for the EU Mies Van Der Rohe Awards and one for UK YAYA prize, 11 internationally peer-reviewed awards in Ireland and a research award which includes a directly commissioned public building of the Irish State.

But mostly, we just really love architecture.
